I will struggle to not over hyperbolize how fantastic South London band Bastille is throughout this post, but you are unlikely to find better free music ever than Bastille's two free mixtapes. Originally the brainchild of mastermind Dan Smith, Bastille is a full fledged band now that is oriented towards creating stadium anthems. Other People's Heartbreak Part 1 includes covers of City High's"What Would You do?" that is infinitely better than the original, Lana Del Rey's "Blue Jeans" and Haddaway's "What Is Love?" Their percussion is grandiose and huge. The vocals and harmonies are emphatic. I really don't know how describe them without feeling i'm falling short. You have to take a listen.
Other People's Heartbreak Part 2 includes an amazing remix of The XX's "Angels" and tons of others. It's a perfect follow up to Part 1.
They have recently released their debut album just this past Monday titled, Bad Blood, also a must have. Take a listen to their soundcloud.
I've rounded up the mixtapes up for you here: Part 1 and Part 2. If you still need some coaxing, here's some tasters. They're still roaming the vast lands of Europe, but they're going to have a huge tour in America eventually, and you've got to be there. If you're fortunate enough to be in Austin for SXSW, check them out. Let me know what you think in a comment below!
